The academic annual conference of Architectural Society of China 2020 was held in Shenzhen in October. The theme of this annual conference is "Good Design and Good Construction -- Promoting the high-quality development of urban and rural construction". Eleven experts, including Cui Kai, Li Xinggang, Chen Tongbin and Cao Xiaoxin from the China Architectural Design and Research Group, delivered speeches at different forums. In order to record academic exchanges and promote communication, the official media of CADG collated and issued some excellent speech of the expertse. The full text is as follows:

"New thinking, new craft, landscape exploration and practice of creative thinking" is one of the forums of the ASC academic annual conference.  Cao Xiaoxin ,the deputy chief architect of CADG, the manager and director of DAQI ARCHITECTS  gave a keynote speech named "the landscape and the view of architect”. The "Peony Pavilion" project was mentioned, which is an architect's experience of landscape design. The following are excerpts:

As an architect, I have worked in depth with many landscape architects. These cooperative experiences have benefited me a lot and greatly expanded my cognitive boundaries. It is these changes that have an impact on me about the value judgment and identification of architects.

Landscape is often a supporting subject for many architects. But it was right at the heart of my project, the engine that started the design.  As an architect, I prefer to classify it as a spatial problem, and to understand the essence of landscape as an experience around the behavior.

By merging into the landscape, Zhaojun Museum seeks the "harmony" relationship with the existing Zhaojun Tomb. The museum design integrated a series of viewing experiences. In the picture frame formed by the two blocks, tourisms can see the ancient tomb even from the city road, which forms the viewing experience with the landscape.

In the Wuhan East and West Lake Cultural Center project, we tried to put the landscape as the core of the project. The central garden becomes the link between the individual buildings, forming a group of settlements with its core.

Detailed Explanation of Design Practice -- "Peony Pavilion in Search of Dreams"

The "Peony Pavilion" project is located in Jiangxi province, and the Client is Sunshine Media Corporation. The scene created by "The Peony Pavilion" recreates the situation in Tang Xianzu's masterpiece "The Peony Pavilion". The length of the scene is formed by three folds for "A Dream In The Garden", "A Dream In The Soul" and "Three Lives to Realize a Dream". A series of pavilions, terraces are recreated in the venue. Live-action performances can be held at night, and visitors can enjoy the scenery and gardens during the day.

The site is clearly zoned according to function. There are a large number of old houses around the site, which are endowed with new vitality after renovation maintaining the identity of traditional culture. The original pond also serves the state of live performance.

The architects also pondered in the experience of creating a landscape, which is both a setting and a building for viewing.

In the landscape, human intervention produces the behavior of viewing and also increases the interest of the space. In working with landscape architects, we work together to calibrate certain values and achieve common goals -- it is this important collaboration that is the guarantee of project quality.
